Summary Report

The Patch Status Summary report gives you more of a high-level understanding of how your patch management procedures are going. For both servers and desktops, you’ll be able to view a single dashboard that shows you what’s up-to-date and what’s not.

Next, you can see vulnerabilities at a glance, an important element of risk assessment and mitigation.

You can see all agents plus how many patches are missing in each agent. Last but by no means least, you can view by specific patches, to see which agents are missing that patch, and you can export this report data in a single click, to share with your clients, team, or even that online gaming friend you’ve never met in person.

Search and Deploy Report

Atera’s Search & Deploy Report is a powerful tool in keeping cyber-risks at bay and ensuring your software is up-to-date. Utilize this report to identify missing patch KBs, so that these patches can be installed directly from the report in a single click.

Filter by agent types, the type of device you’re looking for, or patch status to generate the report and immediately install any missing or pending patches, to ensure all of your devices are up-to-date at all time.

You can also use the summary section of the Search & Deploy report to quickly isolate the total updates you’ve completed over a specific time frame, and to configure the view by those that have been installed, and those that haven’t yet.

Frequently asked questions

What are patch management reports?
Patch management reports are structured summaries that document the status, history, and outcomes of operating system and software updates across the devices you manage.

With Atera, patch management reports give IT teams and MSPs an at-a-glance view of which endpoints are up to date, which have missing or failed patches, and how automated patching profiles are performing. This turns raw patching activity into shareable evidence of network health. You can run them on demand or schedule them for automatic delivery to technicians or end customers.

What kind of data is included in Atera’s patch management reports?
Atera’s patch management reporting suite covers three Operational Reports, each with a different angle on patching posture.

The Patch Status Summary gives a high-level view across servers and desktops, showing up-to-date vs. out-of-date agents, top vulnerabilities, agents missing patches, and a per-patch view of which devices are still pending, all exportable in a single click.

The Patch Search & Deploy report identifies missing Microsoft patches by KB number or description and lets technicians install them directly from the report, with filters for agent type, device type, and patch status.

The Patch & Automation Feedback report covers all tasks completed via IT Automation Profiles, including patch installations, scripts, and maintenance tasks, with task-level detail on profile name, action type, agents impacted, success or failure, and full output of scripts executed during the period.

Reports break down patches by Windows classification (Critical, Security, Definition, Update Rollups, Service Packs, Feature Packs) and cover Windows, macOS, and Linux device types.

The Patch Management Dashboard adds CVE and CVSS 3.1 scoring on Windows patches so technicians can prioritize remediation by severity.

For deeper custom analysis, Atera’s Analytical Reports expose patch-level dimensions like KB number, patch status, error codes, installation date, reboot required, supported products, and Linux package version, classification, and priority, letting teams build custom dashboards that go beyond the preset reports and schedule them to any email address.

How do patch reports help with regulatory compliance (HIPAA, SOC2, GDPR)?
Patch reports give IT teams the time-stamped evidence auditors expect: which devices were patched, when, by which IT Automation Profile, which patches succeeded or failed, and which vulnerabilities remain open.

The Patch Status Summary documents up-to-date vs. out-of-date posture across servers and desktops, and the Patch & Automation Feedback report logs every patch task with success and failure details. Analytical Reports extend this with custom dashboards built on patch-level dimensions like KB number, install date, error code, and reboot status, schedulable to any email address for internal records or auditor delivery.

This documented patching cadence and vulnerability remediation evidence is part of what frameworks like HIPAA, SOC 2, and GDPR expect under their security and vulnerability management requirements.

At the platform level, Atera is SOC 2 Type 2 and ISO 27001 certified and holds a HIPAA Seal of Compliance from Compliancy Group. A Business Associate Agreement (BAA) is available on the Superpower (MSP) and Enterprise (IT department) plans. Full security and compliance details are at atera.com/trust.

Can I filter patch management reports by specific customers or device groups?
Yes. Atera lets you filter patch management reports by customer and site so you can isolate exactly the environment you want to review, and refine further by patch class (Critical, Security, Service Packs, Drivers, Mac/Linux updates), agent type, time period, or specific KB number or description.

You can also exclude retired devices or hide excluded patches, then export the filtered view to Excel or PDF, or schedule it to land in a customer’s or technician’s inbox automatically.
